Ramon will join the team at the training camp – he will prepare the team for the second part of the season. The contract is signed for 2,5 years. The coaching staff will be formed in the nearest future.
Ramon Tribulietx started his coaching career in 2005 in Spain. In 2008, he moved to New Zealand and joined the coaching staff of Auckland City. Since 2010, Ramon has become the head coach of the team, in this role he managed to win the Oceania Champions League 7 times, win the New Zealand Championship three times and win bronze medals in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The club’s sports director Chris Docherty spoke about how the search for a new head coach took place:
“After undergoing a thorough interview process, which left us with several coaches who had worked in some of Europe’s top divisions, Ramon stood out as someone who perfectly represented the desired future direction of the club. As well as bringing a lot of experience – being the coach with the most ever appearances at the FIFA Club World Cup, for example – during the conversations with Ramon I asked a lot of specific questions about his tactical ideas and training process. It was clear that Ramon is someone who is obsessed with the tactical details of the game, and for me this is a requirement of a top-level coach in modern football. We already have a squad which is built to play with the ball and try to control games, and I am certain that Ramon will add some adaptations to our game model in each phase to bring this style to the next level. Nothing can be implemented overnight, but in time, I am confident we will see an FC Akron team under Ramon’s guidance which at the same time achieves results, plays exciting, dominant football, and also develops each player individually through the training process.”
Akron FC head coach Ramon Tribulietx commented on the appointment:
“Chris contacted me, told me about the project, which immediately interested me. The main goal is the Russian Premier League – and that’s one of the things that motivates me. Promotion is a difficult task, but we will work towards it step by step. The ambitions and philosophy of the club resonate with me, so I accepted the offer. I’ve already watched a bunch of the team’s games and have an idea of the style and level of the FNL, “Akron” players and playing philosophy”.
