Our team beat Torpedo Vladimir thanks to Konstantin Bazelyuk’s goal from the penalty.

Evgeny Kaleshin brought all the leaders to Vladimir, which showed a serious attitude to the cup game, but a small rotation was nevertheless made: due to the tight schedule, Zuev, Chudin, Bazelyuk and Azarov started the match on the bench. However, Akron joined the game literally from the very beginning. Already by the tenth minute, we threatened the gates of Torpedo four times: Giraev hit twice after a corner, Shakuro and Sasin struck a blow, who in the 33rd minute had a no less lethal moment after a pass to the center of the penalty area from Savichev – the midfielder hit the net from the outside. The heavy field made it difficult to move the ball quickly, but our team’s possession of the advantage was undeniable.

We started the second half also actively: first, Karim caught a rebound, but missed the target from the goalkeeper, and in the 50th minute Maxim Palienko received a cutting pass from Pesegov and rolled near the post. A goal against the hosts was brewing even despite the fact that Viktor Chuvilov hit the crossbar in the 58th minute. Our top scoring player Konstantin Savichev set up the goal: the player made a cross into the penalty area, which Egor Skvortsov interrupted with his hand – a penalty, which Konstantin Bazelyuk skillfully converted.

The end of the match turned out to be very protracted – as much as 13 minutes were added to the main time of the match! However, the referee had a significant reason for this: in the 75th minute of the match, in a duel with Palienko, Torpedo player Vladislav Labzin was seriously injured – an ankle fracture. An ambulance went to the field, the player was evacuated to the nearest hospital. “The match was marred by an injury to an opposing player. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope that the rehabilitation will go as it should and quickly. Mixed feelings due to such a severe injury. This is a sport, such unforeseen things sometimes happen“, – Akron’s coach said after the match.

Nevertheless, the game had to be continued, and at the end of the match the Togliatti team were closer to the second goal than the Vladimir team was to the return goal. Azarov and Bazelyuk could implement counterattacks, but the scoreboard did not change until the end of the match. Our team for the first time in history made it to the 1/16 Cup of Russia. The matches of the fifth round of the Path of Regions will be held from 1 to 3 November. Pairs of teams will be determined during the draw, which will take place on Friday, October 7, live on the Match Premier. It starts at 21:00 Samara time.
