Akron successfully passed another episode of the battle on two fronts. At the historical stage of the 1/16 finals of the FONBET Cup of Russia, our team hosted Peresvet Domodedovo, representing the Second League. Despite the lower tournament status, guests from the Moscow region in the previous round were able to beat Baltika in the penalty shootout and also show their best achievement. Peresvet dubbed this match the match of the year, but Akron, who last won the Cup at home three years ago, was extremely motivated. The Red-Blacks came out in an experimental squad: Yevgeny Kaleshin gave playing practice to players who rarely appear on the field in the championship from the first minutes. Let’s note two debuts: goalkeeper Vitaly Sychev and 18-year-old midfielder Alexei Gusev, the leader of Akron-Academy Konoplev, who plays in UFL-1.
